About Me
Hello! I am an Assistant Professor at the Department of Psychology at the Ateneo de Manila University. I am co-director of the Political Psychology of Democratization Laboratory, where my research examines how people make sense of themselves and their social worlds in contexts of political and technological change. More broadly, I am also interested in critical, interdisciplinary, and mixed methods approaches to computational social science, especially in relation to the Asia-Pacific and the Global South.
I earned my Ph.D. in Societal Computing at Carnegie Mellon University, where I studied the large-scale narrative and network dynamics of online hate. For my research, I’ve received awards from the Asian Association of Social Psychology, the Psychological Association of the Philippines, and the Philippine Department of Science and Technology. I’ve also been named ICWSM Best Reviewer for three consecutive years, and I currently serve on the Editorial Board of PLoS One and the Journal of Social and Political Psychology.
Previously, I’m proud to have spent time as a postbachelor fellow at Heidelberg University and the Nara Institute of Science and Technology. I have also served as a project scientist and policy analyst for civil society and the Philippine national government.
